Manningham Mills Community Association, after receiving European funding, provides community space in the Silk Mill, for its local community.
MMCA offers the following in the new community centre: the Chaat Cafe (providing fish, vegetarian and halal food), an out of school club, youth activities, holiday play schemes, conference and events hall with breakout rooms (to book with catering if require), space for meetings, training, therapy sessions, and hot desking, courses and training with Bradford College, jobs and careers advice, events for the community, volunteering oportunities in the cafe, childcare, reception and community development work.
We hope to develop a Madrassa for children in parternship with others and also time for older people to meet, socialise and plan provision.
MMCA plans to manage premises known as Manningham Mills, for the benefit of the community; to protect and promote the use of Manningham Mills for the social, economic and cultural benefit of the multicultural community which surrounds it in BD8, BD9 and surrounding areas; and promote the benefit of communities without distinction of gender, race, sexuality, disability or of religious or other opinions.
This historic builiding should be a meeting place which gives hope for the next generation as well as recognising the past through a range of other activites for people of all ages.
