PART-TIME COORDINATOR (MATERNITY COVER)

Wrose Adventurers are looking to appoint a part-time coordinator to provide maternity cover from January 2018. We are a small, mainly parent-led voluntary group running a Wednesday night social club for young people with high functioning autism / Asperger’s from 7-9 pm.
Based at Highcroft Youth Centre in Wrose, Shipley we operate for 44 weeks per year (roughly weekly during term times+). Our core client group is 11-25 year olds, and we aim to provide 2 hours a week respite for parent-carers, so our association in effect has two beneficiary groups. We have two part-time paid staff: a Coordinator and Admin assistant. Volunteers and management committee members (parents /carers) help out on club nights too.
We have roughly 35 young members, with average weekly attendance of around 20. Our programme includes regular club nights, which are relaxed and friendly, allowing members to meet and socialise, play board or computer games, pool etc. We also run a range of special activities, bingo or film nights, trips to bowling or laser zone, arts and crafts, food nights (meal out at Christmas) etc.
The Coordinator is responsible for organising and overseeing the weekly club nights, supervising the admin assistant and volunteers, liaising with the management committee, managing the petty cash, maintaining financial records and completing monitoring returns for our grant funders.
We are looking for a confident and reliable organiser, with good communication and IT skills and a friendly and approachable manner, who can demonstrate knowledge and some experience of working with ASC (autistic spectrum conditions). You will have knowledge of voluntary sector funding and safeguarding (children and vulnerable adults), and a clean Extended DBS.
Hours are 6 per club week (3 hours attendance at the Wednesday evening club and 3 on admin, paperwork and other duties), paid at £13.49 per hour. Start date would be as soon as possible in January 2018 until end September 2018, with the possibility to extend.
