Faith Culture and Community Engagement Manager

Sharing Voices (Bradford) is an award winning community development mental health organisation. We work with people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities living with mental distress to enable recovery and facilitate the development of appropriate and responsive mental health services.

We seek an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with faith organisations and individuals from the Muslim communities living with mental distress. An essential requirement is that you have knowledge and understanding of mental healthcare systems and experience of managing or leading a project that involves a range of different stakeholders.

Furthermore you will have an understanding of the barriers experienced by BAME communities in accessing mental health services.  You will be able to form positive working relationships with a broad range of people, including people experiencing mental distress, and the wider statutory, academic, and voluntary and community sectors. The post holder will work in partnership with the BAME Community Development Workers in the voluntary community sector and the wider BAME Faith Organisations of Bradford to raise awareness of the availability of a culturally adapted therapy for depression. The postholder will liaise with organisations that work with BAME people, raise awareness of GPs, and conduct engagement work with community and faith organisations to produce a range of resources that will raise awareness of mental health services in general and of adapted therapy for local Muslim people in particular.

This post is fixed term contract and is subject to a probationary period of 6 months
