Senior Development Officer (Major Gifts)

Join the University of Bradford’s Alumni and Development Team at an exciting point in our philanthropic journey.

The University of Bradford has established a successful Development Team, working with alumni and friends across the world, to secure philanthropic gifts that have lasting impact. We are now seeking to appoint two positions within the Development Team - Senior Development Officer (Major Gifts) and Senior Development Officer (Trusts and Foundations).

As a dynamic and committed Senior Development Officer (Major gifts), you will join the Research, Innovation and Engagement directorate. With a focus on major gifts, this role involves maximising opportunities to build meaningful relationships and generate income from high net worth individuals, whilst also helping to drive forward and further embed, a culture of philanthropy at the University.

To be considered for the role, you must have experience of working in a fast-paced, target driven environment, have recent fundraising or related experience (in cultivating major givers or face-to-face fundraising and securing gifts of five figures and above). You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and inspire peers and high profile external stakeholders. You must have experience of producing communication materials for difference audiences and individuals.

A strong team player but with the ability to work independently, you will be flexible and positive, and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the work of the University. You will be responsible for, and manage, your own portfolio of donors, working to cultivate excellent relationships and providing outstanding stewardship. You will be part of a small Development Team and work closely with other members of the Alumni Relations and Events and Partnerships teams, as well as developing excellent working relationships with academic staff and other University colleagues.

When appropriate, this role will involve travel across the UK, particularly to London and potentially some international travel. You will also have the ability to work occasional non-social hours such as evenings and weekends when assisting with hosting events.

Benefits of the role include 25 days holiday and 13 statutory and customary days, flexible working, a university nursery and fitness centre, generous employer and contribution pension schemes, a reward scheme for shopping discounts, and a salary sacrifice scheme to assist you in purchasing items like childcare vouchers or a bicycle for commuting.
