Barnardo's is proud to be leading the Operational Hub for Bradford, working in partnership with Leeds City Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council and key third sector partners.
Please note. The Stronger Families Programme is due to end in September 2021. There is a review of the programme underway with a proposal to extend the programme to March 2023.
The Programme aims to support families living in the most disadvantaged areas in Bradford and Leeds who have barriers to accessing education, gaining skills for work or finding employment. Early intervention underpins the approach, targeting resources at those families who need support with difficulties around: mental health and well-being, low confidence, school attendance, poor self-esteem, lack of education qualifications, domestic abuse, financial debt or housing issues, parenting issues or limited basic work readiness.
Advocating a ‘one family, one plan, one worker approach', Stronger Families works holistically to simultaneously address as many barriers as possible; appreciating that challenges in one aspect of an Individual's life can be both the result of and/or the cause of other difficulties. At its core the programme appreciates the importance of raising the aspirations of everyone involved, with a strong emphasis on helping parents move into paid and fulfilling work, breaking a cycle of intergenerational unemployment and improving outcomes for children and families
The programme consists of Keyworkers and Specialist provision from a variety of Third Sector providers across the District who will work together to provide suitable and relevant interventions for identified families.
