This expanding and leading woman only charity has an exciting job vacancy for a self-motivated, passionate individual interested in bringing about real change to the communities we serve.

Womenzone proposes to act as a lead provider for Bradford Genetics Service to encourage engagement with families in Bradford and a broad network of local community groups, Mosques and other faith organisations to work collaboratively with system partners to deliver the aims and objectives of the Genetics service. The project coordinator will act as an advocate of families within the development of service, whilst at the same time facilitating and coordinating work that in turn advocates, genetic services within communities, improving equitable access and genetic literacy.

It is an occupational requirement for this role to have a female (respective of post requirements) worker under the Equality Act 2010, Section 9 Part 1

Salary: £25,295 Pro Rota

Length of contract: 3 years (subject to review)

Hours of Work: 22.5 hours / week, Monday - Friday between 9am-5pm, evening/weekend work may be required

Key Duties:

  • To coordinate the development of the Genetics project at Womenzone in partnership
  • To facilitate training of delivery and outreach sessions
  • To maximise the involvement of community and faith groups
  • To review existing learning about the delivery of community-based approaches and consultation data / feedback from communities about their needs / preferred approaches
  • To create a network of Community Champions
  • To develop resources for health professionals to facilitate culturally appropriate conversation
  • To coordinate and monitor the collaboration between the VCS and system partners to ensure a culturally responsive and accessible service is delivered  
  • Consult with families about their experiences of accessing genetic services and the extent of their genetic literacy, the barriers and needs they have
  • Review the current referral system in consultation with system partners to identify better and more appropriate access points

Experience/ Qualification

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of project coordination at a senior level in a similar setting i.e. health, community centre etc.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office an excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise work and work closely with partners
  • Be able to work to time constraints & use own initiative to solve issues/problems
