The Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership based at the University of Central Lancashire are running the FD in Community Leadership from their Burnley campus.

The course starts in September 2012 and there are still a few places left.

About the course

The course is designed to build participants up from learning skills and abilities from different types of volunteering and gaining experience in different fields in the first year, to running and managing their own volunteer projects and events in the third year.

The course also offers amongst the highest amount of trips abroad organised out of any UCLan courses.
This is to gain experience of working with communities in other countries like Pakistan, Russia, USA, UAE and Spain.

Future Career Opportinities

Students have gone on to work in the following sectors:

  • Youth service
  • Community Work
  • Project Management
  • Local Government
  • Public Sector
  • Transferable skills into any leadership/management position
  • Teaching
  • Volunteer co-ordinators/Volunteer Officers
  • Charities

The cost of the course full time is £6000 per year, this is £3000 less than other UCLan courses, and so at the end of the three years if you complete the final year BA top up then you will have saved £9000 and still come out with a degree.

The reason it is a two year foundation and then one year top up is so we can charge this amount to save students money.

There are a range of financial support options to choose from. They all depend on the circumstances, but we can help people find the right option.
