Community Matters, the National Federation of Community organisations, have launched a new social impact tool.

Community Matters provide a number of tools and services to do with setting up and managing a community organisation, from managing volunteers to building maintenance. These can be accessed via www.communitymatters.org.uk/onlineguidance

Recently Community Matters have launched a new social impact tool that has been designed specifically with small groups in mind enabling them to demonstrate their social impact to stakeholders and funders. The tool has been endorsed by the Charity Commission and from Department for Communities and Local Government. With government recently pushing local authorities to look at social value when commissioning services, this tool has been welcomed by the sector.

Your Value! enables groups to work through a series of questions in four areas.

  • local relationships
  • social value
  • economic value
  • environmental value

It then takes data being inputted by the user and runs a colour report which illustrates the social impact an organisation is making through various calculations which can be submitted as part of funding bids.

An example of a report and further information as well as a free demo of the tool can be found at www.communitymatters.org.uk/yourvalue
