Description BeaconRaises awareness about the needs of asylum seekers and refugees. BEACON has four main projects:
McKenzie Friends
Volunteers provide non-legal support to asylum seekers who do not have access to legal representation.
CHAT Phoenix House
Friendship and refreshments for those attending Phoenix house - takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings at the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal Centre, Phoenix House, Thornbury, BD3 7BH.
CHAT English club
A free English conversation club open to all non-native speakers wishing to improve their spoken English.
Hosting Project
Aims to provide short and medium term accommodation of destitute asylum seekers in volunteers' homes.
