Coronavirus Update from this group on 1 April 2020: "Alzheimer’s Society Bradford and District is continuing to offer services to people with dementia, carers, relatives and friends and communities across Bradford and District.
"Staff are working by phone to offer practical and emotional support on how dementia affects people, coping strategies such as managing changes in behaviour, support available from other services and a listening ear. We will take referrals and are also offering regular welfare calls throughout the Covid 19 crisis.
"Our Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator is offering support on how to set up and maintain Dementia Friendly Communities during this period. For advice on how to best support people within your communities, people affected by dementia and to influence your local businesses and shops to take action. We offer information, practical ideas and support (not personal care) to people with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers.
Dementia Advisor service
Anyone diagnosed across the district should be referred by the Consultant to this service , staff will contact and provide a 1-1 service giving information on all aspects relating to dementia , future planning and services available. This is a time limited service.
Dementia Support Worker Service
Staff will offer support and help as the condition progresses, from issues relating to the progression of the condition, accessing specialist help and talking through stressful situations to looking at alternative accommodation. Anyone can refer into this service.
