West Yorkshire Branch Motor Neurone Disease Association

The West Yorkshire Branch is a group of volunteers, many of them with current or past experience of MND. They can provide support and information to people living with MND, their families, carers, supporters, volunteers and fundraisers.
Our monthly Carers Group offers mutual support to anyone currently caring for someone with MND.
Alternatively, our monthly Garden Centre meetings are a chance for anyone interested in the work of the MND Association to find out more, or just meet with old and new friends in an informal setting.
We also have a team of Association Visitors (AVs) and Care Volunteers trained to offer support, practical advice and information on all aspects of living with MND, from a listening ear to help with voice banking.

West Yorkshire Community Accounting Service (WYCAS)

West Yorkshire Community Accounting Service (WYCAS) supports organisations to manage their finances more effectively and efficiently. Our specialist and highly knowledgeable team offer you training, support and tailored services to help you to better manage your finances and meet the various regulatory requirements allowing you to focus on delivering your services. Unique in West Yorkshire, WYCAS has been operating since 2000. In that time we have built up an excellent track record for providing financial management training and accounting services particularly within the voluntary and community sector.

West Yorkshire CTC

West Yorkshire CTC is part of Cycling UK, the cyclists' champion, covering Leeds, Bradford and Calderdale. It aims to encourage and assist local CTC and Cycling UK member groups in this area and organises cycling events which attract cyclists of all abilities.

West Yorkshire Family Mediation Service

We provide mediation for couples whose relationships have broken down or are breaking down. When relationships have broken down and families are living apart or intend to live apart, we can help sort out matters such as where the children will live, how they will continue contact with both parents, grandparents etc,and financial matters.
We offer legally aided mediation to those who are eligible. Family Mediation is the alternative to using the courts for sorting out separation and divorce issues. It is less costly and less adversarial.

West Yorkshire Iraqi Community Group
West Yorkshire M S Therapy Centre

Advice and therapies for people with MS and their families and carers.
We continue to offer several therapies and support to MS sufferers but also several other neurological conditions. We offer Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Physiotherapy, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Counselling service, Tai Chi class and a Pilates class, Reiki healing and Acupuncture.

West Yorkshire Organic Group (WYOG)

WYOG is a community group which promotes organic gardening. Annually, we hold a Potato Day and a Fruit, Flower, Veg and Produce Show where entries are judged on taste rather than appearance.

West Yorkshire Winter League

Cross Country League covering 7 local running clubs. Full details about the league, including all race results are obtained on the Idle Athletic Club website. Membership open to over 18s who are members of the running clubs (currently) who form the league.

Westgate Drama Group - Baildon

Produces mystery, comedy and general plays, and occasional Festival entries. Performs plays each year. Membership open. Meet at Baildon Golf Club AGM January. Approx 50 members.

Wharfedale Agricultural Society (Otley Show)

Founded in 1796, for the purpose of encouraging improvement and development in agriculture. Organisers of Annual show in May (Otley Show). Average attendance 12,000. Membership available. Exhibitors include Cattle, Sheep, Horses, Poultry, Goats and Dogs. Stands include Agricultural and Craft, Children entertainment.

Wharfedale District Scout Council

Wharfedale District Scout Council administers the rules of The Scout Association for the Scout groups in the following communities in Wharfedale: Addingham, Ilkley, Ben Rhydding, Burley, Menston and Otley. [The first 5 named are in the Bradford MDC area & Otley is in Leeds CC area]. It also manages the Curly Hill Campsite and Centre, and has oversight of the Reva Water Activity Centre.

A Friendly Club which loves Fell Running.

Wharfedale Harriers came into being in 1998 and was initially formed to bring together people with an interest in off road running, mainly Fell Running. Since then, however, the club has expanded to include the delights of Cross Country and the dizzy speeds of Road Running. We are a friendly club and welcome applications for membership from all ages and abilities. We also have a thriving junior section. Our modest fees are set at a level where we look to merely cover our expenses. On Wednesdays, we have a pub/social run, where members can run together and then have a chat before returning home. For details of membership and training, please see the separate pages. If you think that you would like to join us, why not come along to one of our pub runs and see what you think. Wharfedale Men's Shed

Wharfedale Men's Shed is aimed at older men who may feel isolated and would enjoy working with wood in the company of other men. Funded by Leeds North CCG.

Wharfedale Naturalists' Society

Search, study and recording of natural history species and habitats in Wharfedale from Pool in Wharfedale to the head of Wharfedale. Includes: Otley, Ilkley, Addingham, Grassington, Kettlewell, Yockenthwaite, Littondale, Washburn Valley. Conservation of wildlife including plantlife and their habitats.

Wharfedale Recorded Music Society

Provides the opportunity to hear a wide variety of recorded classical music on excellent equipment in friendly and comfortable surroundings. Weekly between September - May, introduced by knowledgeable and expert speakers.
Membership open and meets most Wednesdays at 7:45pm.

Wharfedale Scone Roses

Wharfedale Scone Roses is a branch of the Women's Institute based in Burley in Wharfedale. Annual membership charges apply.
Wharfedale Scone Roses meet every 4th Thursday in the month 7.30 to 9.30pm at Burley Social Club, which offers comfortable accommodation and refreshments.
We have a wide range of guests, offering ladies the opportunity to meet other members, socialise and learn something new.

Wharfedale Speakers Club - Otley

We are a friendly and welcoming organisation concerned with the encouragement and development of the ability to speak in public, for professional or personal reasons. We meet fortnightly in the Scout Headquarters, Burras Lane, Otley (opposite the parish church)at 7.45 for 8pm from September until May, beginning on Sept.7th. We have joint meetings with other speakers' clubs in the area, and once a year we meet nationally. There are social activities too and it is pleasant to belong. All normal club meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday evening of each month (September until May). We hold an annual schools' speech competion.

Why Don't We

“Why Don’t We” offers a range of creative opportunities which enable adults with learning difficulties to express themselves and tackle issues affecting their lives. We are a small charity, which runs weekly groups, using a wide range of media such as art, photography, video making and sound recording to enable the voices of participants to be heard clearly.

The group is open to anyone over the age of 18 with an interest in our mission.

We work with organisations which support people with disabilities and meet regularly to engage in activity.
