Young Masters Visual Arts School

Young Masters is an award-winning visual arts school for children mainly between five and 16 years old that runs on a weekly basis in two terms, starting in September and February. Both terms end with a free public exhibition of the students’ work at various locations in Bradford and Leeds.
At Young Masters we aim to teach children painting and drawing techniques, sculpture techniques, and art history. We are based in a close proximity to World Heritage Site Salts Mill in Saltaire - Merchants Quay - which is a Grade II listed industrial complex of red brick buildings on the Leeds-Liverpool canal. We also run classes at Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds.
Young Masters is the ideal place for young children to discover and develop their natural talent and skills. We provide Level 1 pre-GCSE (age 7 and above) and Level 2 GCSE (age 11 and above) qualifications.
Young Masters is run by qualified teachers and artists and aims to encourage independent creative thinking and ideas. We pride ourselves on the high quality of service we provide. Our regular customers return to us time and time again because they know that we will go the extra mile for them.

Your Back Yard CIC

We help communities to create places to be proud of. This might be by improving a local park or play area, taking over the running of a community centre to meet the community’s needs, or coming up with new projects to give young people something to do. Most of our work is with communities in the more deprived parts of the North of England.

Our work generally falls into one of the following areas:
Community Action Planning

We work with communities to identify what their priorities are, develop plans and put them into practice.

Improving Parks and Play Areas

We work with local people to tackle the poor state of many parks and play areas in many of our communities. As one local resident of a large housing estate put it, “18,000 people and nowhere to play”.

Support for Community Buildings

Every community needs good places where people can get together to enjoy themselves, where clubs and classes can run, where young people can meet safely and where the community can meet together.

Help for Sports Clubs

At Your Back Yard we have extensive experience of helping community groups, sports clubs and other third sector organisations raise the funding to get their projects off the ground.

Support for Neighbourhood Planning

Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) give you the chance to shape what kind of development happens in your area. NDPs can be lead by two types of body – town and parish councils or ‘neighbourhood forums’.
