Neighbourhood Devolution & Self-Governance

Start date and time: 19th October 2021 10:00am
End date and time: 19th October 2021 12:00pm

Do you care about the future of your neighbourhood? Are you concerned about the number of local amenities which have disappeared in recent times? And would you like to have a greater say over what happens to your community?

This talk will discuss the model of neighbourhood councils, how they work, the powers they have and how to set one up for your community. They can have involvement in a variety of local issues including planning applications, transport, policing and economic development and can provide more vision and leadership. Neighbourhood councils are directly elected and anybody who lives, works or volunteers in the neighbourhood can stand for election.

We will also look at alternative models to neighbourhood councils such as residents associations and how these can be granted some powers under the Localism Act.

IMPORTANT! We need to keep an eye on numbers for this session so please book on by first emailing us using mail@neighbourhoodproject.org.uk
