Community Owned Services & Enterprises

Start date and time: 20th October 2021 2:00pm
End date and time: 20th October 2021 4:00pm

Are you unhappy with the way a local public services is being delivered? Do you feel that it could be better run by local residents? Is a service threatened with closure and you would like to see it keep going?

This session explores the legal rights of a community to challenge the local authority over how it runs services and to bid to take over them. It will outline the steps people need to do this, look at the different ways a community could run a service and consider successful examples.

We will also look at examples of community owned enterprises such as shops, pubs and energy generation where people have either stepped in to save an amenity from closure or have set up a new venture from scratch based on an identified need.

IMPORTANT! We need to keep an eye on numbers for this session so please book on by emailing us first using mail@neighbourhoodproject.org.uk
