Wellbeing and Engagement Officer (Shipley)

Temporary to December 2018 (May be extended subject to funding)

Age UK Bradford and District is committed to ensuring that we enable, empower and support people over 50 to live well as active and engaged members of their communities for as long as possible, developing and influencing, in partnership with them, responses which promote their independence and choice and control, preventing and delaying/reducing the need for statutory support and involvement.

  • Our Wellbeing Team will work across the district with officers in designated areas to provide support and enablement for older people.
  • You will build relationships with local partners and organisations and work with communities to encourage older people to pro-actively participate in their own community.
  • You will be responsible for the recruitment, induction and support of volunteers, developing a data base of individuals who will support the delivery of the team’s objectives.
  • You will have experience of working in a community setting, preferably within the voluntary sector and be committed to using a person centred approach to meet identified needs.
  • You should be well organised with great communication skills, used to effective team working, but also have the ability to work independently.

The post will require travel and full driving license, appropriate insurance cover and use of a car is essential.

Salary £18,000 per annum (PRO RATA)
21 hours per week with occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
