FAMILY AND YOUNG PEOPLE SUPPORT WORKER - Bradford Community Support Team

The purpose of Bradford Hate Crime Alliance is to work jointly with strategic and operational partners to eliminate hate crime within Bradford District. The purpose of BCST is to help young people to gain the confidence and ability they need to develop within legal means the right to free expression, advocacy and representation skills needed to participate in the democratic and political arenas of our society, this post focused on young women in Bradford. The role entails following up referrals and intensive support work and developing and delivering training sessions in the community. Key elements of the post include developing close working relationships with partner organisations. The post holder will also ensure outcomes and targets are met, develop monitoring systems and assist with reporting to the funder.

Support Worker: Salary £22500 (Pro rata £15202)
25 hours per week
6 months fixed term contract (secondments will be considered)

Key duties
• Offer intensive support to all families and young people with a focus on young women and girls
• Work with parents and young people (with a focus on young women and girls) to minimise risk of young people accessing extremist ideology by introducing alternative methods of protest and objection.
• Develop preventative extremism /radicalisation awareness training in the community
• Develop such relationships that foster better community relations and a clear understanding of risk posed by extremism and radicalisation to the community.
• Working as a member of the BHCA team to support victims of hate crime as part of the overall objective of BHCA services.
