Vacancy - Community Coordinator (Part time) 

 

Applications are invited for the post of Community Coordinator reporting to the Chair of Trustees of the DMI Community Centre in Denholme.

 

Currently the Community Centre is well used by local groups and has some improved facilities including a kitchen. We want the centre to develop to meet the needs of the local community, reaching out to more groups and communities within Denholme and beyond. 

 

You will have some experience of voluntary, charitable or public sector working at a community level. Capable, resourceful, and able to work on your own initiative you will work closely with the DMI Community Centre Trustees. This will include a flexible approach to your working hours and will require occasional evening and weekend working.

 

The main duties are: 

 

  • Oversee all key aspects of the day to day running of the Community Centre including building maintenance, room bookings, cleaning, caretaking and ensuring a safe environment for all users is maintained which complies with relevant legislation.
  • Regular contact with the current users
  • Developing contacts and liaising with other groups and organisations in the village including, local voluntary groups and businesses; schools and youth groups, health centres and churches
  • Contact new residents in the village to introduce and promote our services and facilities
  • Develop projects and activities that will help to reduce loneliness and isolation in the village by extending the work carried out by the JRF loneliness project team between 2010 to 2013.
  • Develop the facilities to maximise use of the Community Centre by individuals and groups
  • Develop and use all media sources including social media to market and publicise our facilities
  • Provide regular written and verbal reports to the Board of Trustees

The post is part time – 15 hours per week.                                                                                                                               Depending on experience the salary is on the National Joint Council (NJC) pay scales SCP 9 to 16.  From April 2019  £20,344 (£10.54 per hour) to £23,369 (£12.11) pro rata
