Action for Community Ltd (ACL) is a registered Charity based at Carlisle Business Centre and the Bradford Volunteer Doula Service is one of ACL’s key projects. Already funded by Bradford City CCG the Service has a further contract with Better Start Bradford in Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton.

As a Locality Officer you will be responsible for joining a team of 3 existing Locality Officers;

• Responsible for dealing with referrals and matching Doulas to families that are referred to the service appropriately


• Carrying out initial risk assessment visits within the home and assessing the needs of mums and families


• Understanding the needs of pregnant women in Bradford City & Better Start Bradford Wards Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton


• Liaising and networking with statutory and voluntary sector partners when receiving referrals to the service and ensure appropriate support for doulas, mums and their families is provided


• Plan, organise and attend events internal and with external partners i.e. Better Start Bradford Projects


• Carrying out supervisions with volunteer Doulas


• Flexible working hours including on-call for Volunteer Doula support


• Arranging appropriate training for existing Volunteer Doulas on a monthly basis.


• Regular engagement to secure referrals


• Communications and Marketing – gather case studies and service user feedback


• Ensure data collection is accurate, precise and collated within timescales and deadlines

As the successful candidate you will have minimum 3-5 years’ experience of working in Early Years and/or the VCS in a health and social care setting with knowledge around pregnancy and childbirth and perinatal care. You will also have experience of supervising volunteers and of working with a diverse population, including BME communities. A good understanding of confidentiality, child protection and domestic abuse is also required. You will have confidence in collating monitoring information and data gathering in order to compile reports for funding bodies.
