Y:Zone Project Worker, 16 hours per week FTE £18,228

Y:Zone

Y:Zone is a project developed by the YMCA and funded through BBC Children in Need to support young people aged 6-13 from disadvantaged backgrounds who are going through a family change such as a parental separation or bereavement and may suffer further disadvantage as a result. The project delivers three programmes a week lasting approx. 12 weeks each to support children and young people with their thoughts, feelings and behaviours throughout this difficult transition alongside fun positive activities and holiday schemes

Job purpose (both roles):

To develop, plan and deliver the Y:Zone programme and activities to vulnerable young people aged 6-13 to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Children and Young People who are going through a family separation will have improved coping strategies and resilience
  • Children and young people will have a reduction in anger and aggression related outbursts as they are better able to deal with their feeling and emotions
  • Children and young people will have improved communication and be better able to talk about the issues that are affecting them

Lead Worker additional responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a referral system for children and young people to access support.
  • Supervising staff, trainees and volunteers.
  • Monitoring and delivering the programme within the given budgets.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the Y:Zone programme within formats agreed by YMCA and preparing reports for programme funders.

The project will run after school and early evenings 3 days per week
