Community Assistant (Veterans)

Fixed Term to 31/12/2022

The Community Assistant (Veterans) is a key member of our Community Hub Teams working with Veterans and relevant groups to deliver the activities and support they tell us they need.

This post is specifically to support Veterans across Bradford District. This includes helping people to access online platforms to connect to others, building on existing group activity and developing new opportunities for engagement.

There is significant unmet demand from Veterans which we want to address through direct and consistent interaction. The need for ongoing, specific support for Veterans has now been built into our new approach to working with older people through the development of six Community Hubs across Bradford District. These hubs offer a range of functions including Information, Help and Support, Advice, Activities and Shopping which are relevant to their own local area and communities. The postholder will continue and grow this work to connect to Veterans on this more localised basis which will help create sustainable rather than one-off relationships.

The successful person will build and work with a team of volunteers, to ensure the delivery of vibrant groups enabling the coproduction of regular activities and events, ensuring effective organisation, planning and promotion enabling people to access other Age UK Bradford District functions as required and other support and resources in their community.

The post will require travel across the district and therefore a full driving license, appropriate insurance cover and use of a car is preferred.

Salary: £18,750 per annum pro rata, £14,189 actual

Hours: 28 hours per week

5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays pro rata
