Perinatal Peer Support Team Leader, Family Action Perinatal Support Service

Based in Central Bradford

22.2 hours per week (part-time)

Grade 3 (upper) point 24-28: £30,751 - £34,072 FTE (£18,450.60 - £20,443.20 per annum)

At Family Action we transform lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation. We have been building stronger families since 1869 and today we work with more than 60,000 families in over 150 community based services, as well as supporting thousands more through national programmes and grants.

Our service recruits, trains and supports volunteers who provide one to one peer support for women, experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues during the perinatal period. The service also offers a programme of Theraplay group work focused on strengthening parent/ child attachment. In addition we have a thriving engagement team who link women in with our service and promote our volunteering opportunities. Your skills and experience

We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual to lead a team of Perinatal coordinators who oversee the peer support element of our service. You will have proven supervisory or leadership experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of working with volunteers. You will have experience of supporting women in the perinatal period, an understanding of perinatal mental health, and be passionate about achieving excellent outcomes for women and babies.

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead on the recruitment, training and support of volunteers
  • Line manage 3 experienced Perinatal Coordinators, providing regular supervision.
  • Lead on quality and performance, approving assessments and carrying out monthly case audits.
  • Lead the triage and allocation process, case updates and pairing of mums with volunteers
  • Work with the Service Manager to further develop the service
  • Carry a small caseload, overseeing volunteers who are paired with your clients.
