Perinatal Group Work and Engagement Coordinator, Family Action Perinatal Support Service

Based in Central Bradford

22.2 hours per week (part-time)

Grade 3 (lower) point 20-23: £27,218 - £29,869 FTE (£16,330.80 - £17,921.40 actual)

Temporary contract: Funding for post approved until July 2023

At Family Action we transform lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation. We have been building stronger families since 1869 and today we work with more than 60,000 families in over 150 community based services, as well as supporting thousands more through national programmes and grants.

Our service recruits, trains and supports volunteers who provide one to one peer support for women, experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues during the perinatal period. The service also offers a programme of Theraplay group work focused on strengthening parent/ child attachment. In addition we have a thriving engagement team who link women in with our service and promote our volunteering opportunities. Your skills and experience

We are looking for an innovative and dynamic Perinatal Group Work & Engagement Coordinator to inspire and lead a small team of Community and Engagement staff. You will have a good understanding of perinatal mental health and child development, along with leadership and management skills; and experience of delivering evidence based group programmes.

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead the organisation, planning, and delivery of the service’s group work programme
  • Record group sessions on system and collate evaluation from group work programme
  • Lead on the service’s engagement strategy, focusing on engagement with mums and communities in the Better Start Bradford area
  • Line manage and supervise the Community and Engagement team, including organising and planning community and engagement activity
  • Attend Community and Engagement events, forums, and networks
  • Lead on volunteer recruitment and publicity of volunteer opportunities
  • Build relationships and connections across Better Start Bradford and wider across Bradford to promote the service and create opportunities to access engagement activity
