Description:

The Society was founded in 1965 in Otley, the home town of Thomas Chippendale. Its principal aims are:

to advance the public education and to promote the appreciation and study of the work of Thomas Chippendale senior and junior
to acquire, preserve and maintain examples of their work for the benefit of the nation
to promote public understanding of the design, production and use of furniture and other decorative arts in the Georgian era.

The Chippendale Society organises study events, supports research and publishes a newsletter to encourage the appreciation and understanding of the work of Thomas Chippendale and his contemporaries.
