Description:

Originally from Bradford, SHAPE-UK now delivers educational intervention programmes nationally and works to bring equality and recognition to people of ethnic backgrounds within society. We work in close partnership with other agencies such as local Councils, schools, and faith/community centres and are a social mobility platform helping people in hardship either by means of age, health, social, economic or other personal circumstances which require short or long-term solutions.
SHAPE-UK’s programmes are dedicated to promoting diversity, heritage and British values to all ages. As an all-inclusive community hub, we share local concerns including those specific to minority communities. By inspiring a sense of belonging and community cohesion we are able to provide a platform for discussions on national and international affairs. Our programmes have a holistic approach; helping individuals improve their quality of life and ultimately contribute positively to society
We are forces friendly organisation and use the services of our forces veteran staff members, serving Armed Forces Personnel (AFP) and civilian professionals to deliver our courses and cognitive interventions, which are designed to stimulate intellectual and social growth through mental and physical activities not usually taught in school. These help service users build confidence, and character and acquire life skills and discipline. Participants leave with enhanced communication and critical thinking that will help them become more rounded, resilient to life’s challenges and empowered to take on future challenges in life.
We provide culturally appropriate resources and services through established interventions within the disciplines of Sport, Health (Mental & Physical) and Academia (Education and Vocational Pathways). In education, we work with Russell Group universities to help students from non-traditional academic backgrounds to access the best in higher education. Establishing good connections with service users and their families can allow us to take participants from different backgrounds and social classes and direct them towards a guided and promising future.
